Senior Palestinian official said that Saudi Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan officially informed the Palestinian leadership that Kingdom’s officials were aware of the Israeli-Emirati agreement and blessed it.
The Palestinian official, who spoke on condition of anonymity, said, “We know that there is a delayed battle with Saudi Arabia, which supported and agreed to the agreement, but we cannot do anything now.”
“We know that Saudi Arabia and Egypt are not supporting us and there is a financial and political blockade on the Palestinian people and their leadership in order to have us agree on a political settlement based on the plan of US President Donald Trump.”
The Palestinian leadership believes that the trilateral agreement between the United Arab Emirates, the United States and Israel, will be followed by other normalization agreements with other Arab countries soon.
For his part, a member of the Executive Committee of the Palestine Liberation Organization, Ahmed Majdalani, said that “it is expected that countries such as Sudan, Bahrain and Oman will make peace agreements with Israel, as the Emirates did.”
“Israel has already started relations with Sudan through Tanzania, and the military rulers in Sudan are closely related to the Emirates, which financed and supported their rule, and there will be a deal based on lifting sanctions on Sudan in exchange for a normalization agreement with Israel.
“It will be the same for Bahrain and Oman, which will follow in the footsteps of the Emirates.
“At the time Tramp is preoccupied with elections, the UAE did Trump and the Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu a great favor. However, he will use the Emirati-Israeli agreement as one of the very winning points in his electoral battle.
“The UAE has become the first ally of the United States of America in the region, ahead of Saudi Arabia.”
The Palestinian leadership has growing concern over the agreement, as it might be a prelude to further fragmentation of the Arab position, to weaken the Palestinian leadership and force it to accept the American project that has not yet been withdrawn and may remain, unless Trump falls in the upcoming US elections.
The Palestinian leadership realizes that Trump’s presence has become in the interest of a number of Arab countries, such as Saudi Arabia, the Emirates, and Egypt, in addition to Israel. The Arab countries are making efforts and providing him with unlimited support to win the elections, especially Saudi Arabia and the UAE because of their influence in the region.
Majdalani said: “Today we are facing a financial and political blockade by an American decision.
In the same context, the Secretary of the Executive Committee of the Palestine Liberation Organization, Saeb Erekat, called on the Emirates, in a press statement, to “cancel its agreement with Israel,” saying: “It is not too late.”
Erekat demanded “the King of Saudi Arabia, Salman bin Abdulaziz, to ask the UAE to withdraw from the agreement,” while denouncing “the welcoming statements issued from Egypt and Bahrain.”
Erekat called on the Secretary General of the Arab League, Ahmed Aboul Gheit, to issue an immediate statement condemning the agreement in the name of the League, adding that “the Arab League must bind all member states to its charter and decisions.”
Erekat considered the agreement a clear Emirati acceptance of the reality imposed by Israel on the ground.
