Another fire in Saudi Arabia within 24 hours, demands for investigation

A huge fire broke out inside the Jeddah Haramain High Speed Railway Station in the Sulaymaniyah neighborhood, which witnessed the start of reconstruction work in the beginning of this week, after a the same site witnessed 11 months ago.

The fire is the second in 24 hours, after another huge fire broke out in a feed market in Hafar Al-Batin Governorate.

The media spokesman for the Civil Defense in Makkah Al-Mukarramah, Colonel Muhammad bin Othman Al-Qarni, confirmed that the Unified Operations Center in Makkah Al-Mukarramah received a report at 19:27 on Thursday of a fire in the train station.

Al-Qarni added, upon receiving the report, the necessary teams moved to the site, to find out that the accident was a fire in a number of containers used as administrative offices in the train station in the Sulaymaniyah neighborhood. The teams managed to contain the accident in its location preventing it from spreading to neighboring sites.

The station administration announced, on Twitter, that a fire had erupted in a number of temporary offices in the Sulaymaniyah district in Jeddah, which were empty of staff, confirming that the civil defense controlled the fire completely without recording any injuries or loss of life.

In October 2018, the first official commercial trips of the Haramain train station, linking Medina and Makkah, were launched, which is expected to carry 60 million passengers annually, especially during the Hajj season.
